Only Two Official Deals Across Europe's Top Five Leagues on July 31

The 2026 summer transfer window is in full swing, but official business on July 31 was minimal in Europe's top five leagues. As of the latest roundup, no Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1 side had completed a transfer. The only confirmed deals came in Serie A, where Cagliari and Sudtirol swapped players on loan: Raphael Kofler moved from Sudtirol to Cagliari, and Davide Veroli went from Cagliari to Sudtirol. The quiet day of paperwork does not reflect the broader market. Chelsea remain the biggest spenders in world football this summer, adding Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, and Marco Palestra under Xabi Alonso while closing in on Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson. Tottenham have committed €267m to new signings, including Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, and Manchester United have brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow, and Tynan Thompson. Manchester United missed out on Elliot Anderson, though, with Enzo Maresca's Manchester City paying a club-record €135m for the England midfielder. Real Madrid have been active following Jose Mourinho's return, bringing in Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, and Carlos Espi, with Rodri also on their radar. Barcelona have signed Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, Bayern Munich have picked up Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari after their World Cup performances, AC Milan have bought Goncalo Ramos from PSG for €74m, and Inter have signed John Stones on a Bosman deal.
